Thanks guys for ur previous advices. My Gsd is 11 months a bit skinny I would say. He does take all diets required for his growth and development. About the leg muscle, at what age they show their growth.? Also I can not facilitate a pond, lake a swimming pool etc. but do have small open to air water tanks at my farm where I live. Their size is 3 ft x 3 ft width and depth about 4 feet. Can I put the gsd inside it to swim, I understand he will quikly try to come out but I can make him stay inside. In short he will be able to swim staying almost at one place. That will atleast make him exercise. Maybe it's a bad idea but if you feel that it wil be o.k then I can carry on. Please advice.

Hi Pushpendra

The swim box that you describe is not nearly large enough I`m afraid.  The dimensions you describe,  if correct would hardly fit a GSD - and would certainly make it feel claustrophibic and to thresh arround rather than swim, it would have nowhere to swim to !  Have you thought about good old fashioned sensible feee exercise?  With good food, good free exercise under supervision, for short periods throughout the day, you should have a muscled dog, if it is ready to have pronounced muscle.

I say this, because it may also be a "gangly" stage of growth that your dog is experiencing at 11 months.  Dogs cant grow up, and out, and muscularly all at once, so perhaps its not time yet for your dog to show the muscle of an adult...

Good luck.   Mo - Mascani.

mo i agree 11 months is to early you expect them to have filled out by 18 mts thats not to say you cant work on muscle development swimming is great but that pool is tiny find a nice lake or hydrotherapy pool uphill walking is great esp on sand if that is possible. trotting short distances etc but take it easy on him as he is still a pup

also some working lines can look lean .
