PG600 - Page 1

I have a 120lb and i want to know the correct dosage of PG600 to give her so that the bitch can come in heat. Does anyone know???

5cc 'dose', followed by second 5cc dose, in 7 days, was clinically effective at inducing estrus in 17/19 bitches.  It was noted however, that if it was given during proestrus, superovulation may result.

What is superovulation? Is this a new drug? Commonly used? I've never heard of it and am curious...

superovulation is, ovulation where more than the normal number of mature eggs are produced at one time. PG600, has been around for almost 20yrs. Originally developed for swine.. It is popular with Pit Bull and Greyhound breeders.

so....for my120 pound dog, she needs one 5cc dose of PG600, wait seven days, and then administer another 5cc dose?? Do they make 5cc syranges or does she have to get 5 of the 1 cc shots? Also, where does the injection go?

I can't help it, I have to ask...   Why are you breeding a 120 pound female?  

No kidding! I'm surprised it took this long for someone to ask the obvious. But, maybe it's not a GSD? There have been times other large breed owners have posted here.

Each dose comes out to 5cc. Much like preparing a Distemper/Parvo Vaccine, you must transfer the contents of one vial of sterile diluent into the vial of freeze dried powder. Shake the vial gently to dissolve the powder. Inject the contents of the blended vial  Sub=Q (under the skin). A common 12cc syringe would be best.

You really should find a Vet who will do this for you. A Vet may prefer to give the injection IM (in muscle). The injection really, really burns. Some females really react to the burn.
