Depends on whether they are under 3 mos. or older:

Proof of Rabies vac if they are old enough (4 months?) to bring a dog across the US/Canada border. If  you plan to register with the CKC you will need to keep a copy of receipt to show duty paid or a border guard signature proof that you imported the dog along with all the AKC documents. Also for those who don't know the dog should not be part of a group that has the same breed & same sex unless thay have a tattoo or microchip identifying them before they cross the border I learned this rule after it was too late. If you are not registering and it is a puppy you need nothing but you do have to pay the tax on the price of the pup.

I had a wonderful family from Canada drive here to Michigan to pick up their pup from me. They needed proof of shot's(rabies), health certificate, proof of payment, proof of micro chip/tattoo. I believe that is it.

I forgot to add that I had the AKC paper's because I mailed them in for the family. If the people are going to mail in your pups paper's? just ask them to photo copy it for you so you will have some more proof that they dog is yours.

Yes 8-10 weeks old.

Thanks for the link, wanderer

Dogs less than three (3) months of age may enter Canada without an export certificate and are not required to be vaccinated for rabies.
Upon arrival at the first port of entry in Canada, dogs and/or cats and their accompanying paperwork will be inspected.
The fee must be paid at the time of inspection.
(Inspection Fees $30.00 + tax)

So a bill of sale, and a  some form of health record, with 1st shots history, AKC paperwork would be all that is needed?
Yes the pup would be going to be CKC reg. and would have permanently identified with both tattoo and microchip.

They do not need a rabies if they are under 4 months of age but they do need something for customs of price paid and they need all shots current for age of puppy documented in a written signed health certificate by a lis. vet.

It is very important to send a bill of sale along with paperwork, and if im not mistaken you need a different type of health cert(may have been mexico) and I also believe they are only good for 3 days(maybe mexico also) instead of 10 days. This is from memory my wife handles all of the shipping.  You can find almost all of this information on the USDA website.
