I just had to respond I am a lover of gsd and other notable breeds but gsd number 1 It is sad to say though many people buy dogs for convience ,non shedding etc. maybe we are not in the right business when mutts can get the price that would blow your mind.I personally have experienced this as I have worked for a very large pet store ,it was nothing to see kittens sold for 600 DOLLARS puppies were from 800 to 2500 Mixed breeds the flavour of the mth.So I say whats wrong with the breeder, maybe look at what the market , is ,but true this is reality I do not condone puppie mills at all but believe me thru this one store mutt after mutt sold fo big dollars People look for the convience buy on impulse the puppie is right there in front of them now,and it doesnot shed it will be friendly and playful (lab poodle)and a unique color to boot It is the consumer that dictates it all. SAD BUT REAL

wow that's interesting, those prices for mixed breeds. i have a purebred poodle with akc registration papers i paid $300 for to a guy who was cutting down on his stock. i contacted her breeder that he bought her from and was told she was originally sold for $600, pet price. i couldn't imagine paying that much or more for a mix! my girl doesn't shed and is friendly and playful. don't need a mix for that. purebred poodles rock!

I think that that is one of the things that makes the GSD so great. Its consumer usually is a responsible person and well informed. dont get me wrong i know that there are plenty of people who buy GSD because its popular but for the most part we do alot to preserve this breed and what it stands for. I cant think of another breed that has such a wonderful sence of history and deeply rooted standards that go beyond how the dog is built. Thank you Max Von Stephanitz!!
