i thought i would plant some evergreens near my kennels to give the dogs some privacy and to also get them some shade during the summer
is this a good idea or will this just attract more insects and bugs which would then infestate the dog and make him itch?
any thoughts? thanks a lot

A kennel in Washington state suggested planting Lilac bushes on one side of kennels...but they are not evergreen.
They do bush out and are pretty when blooming and hide one side of kennel.
A pool landscape planner told me to plant Waxed Crepe Myrtles as they dont keep or harbour fungi. He said against Red tipped Fattinas for that reason ...
Waxed crepe Myrtles are evergreen and Walmart does carry a 4 gallon size...Nurseries carry the bigger ones and they grow to 40 foot high.. Never had seen a waxed crepe Myrtle until he told me about them.

Cedar is used in dog bedding as a natural flea repellent. I don't know if if really works since my girls all eat their beds. I have pine, fir, and cedar near our kennels, some needles need to be swept up but nothing like the trees that shed leaves in the fall. The arborvitae is a nice evergreen that grows more up then out.
