Does any one know about american laekenois breeders. Just checking them out and haven't seen any in the US.

Or maybe even anyone who knows a bit about them. I would post on their board but there is no activity on that one.

I dont know much about them other then they are the rarest of the Belgian shepherd varieties.

They certainly are interesting dogs to look at. Does anyone know how they work?

I have always been curious about them, but never took the time to look into them.

My guess is that they work like a mali because alot of the belgian sheepdogs are inter-bred and named by coat and color. So they may have been 2 or 3 varieties in a litter. I really like their look.

There is one here in CT which competes in NADAC Agility. I believe they are not recognized by AKC so there are not any here. I believe about 5 years ago I was told she was the only one here but that was the word of a Belgian Tervuren Breeder and nothing official. I believe AKC only recognized the Terv, Sheepdog, and Mal but I could be wrong. She appears to be a dream dog. She is not over done like some Mal's but not quite as calm as a Terv.

Where did you read it ? I guess there has to be a reason they are so rare.

When i did my BH, there was a Lakenois, from a Minnesota club getting her BH as well.  Our club was affiliated with UScA.  I just went to USA's website and checked the Minnesota clubs, but could not find it.....  If I come across the lady with her dog, I will post here for you....
