AlliGSD911

I'm looking for top DDR studs both located in the states and in Germany available for breeding.  I am pretty aware of what's available in the states, but checking to see if there's someone that possibly has a top male that they aren't actively advirtising or possibly purchasing soon.  Please post the owner or kennel information so I can contact them, or PM me...thank you in advance!!

Corley - Thank you he is a very nice dog with nice pedigree, but I'm looking for pure DDR bloodlines.

You may want to the following: http://www.gillsgermanshepherds.com/champped.htm.  He is deceased but it looks like frozen semen is available.

I was under the impression that all the true DDR dogs no longer exist, is this true?

Why are you looking for ddr studs? What happened to you Durbas breeding??

Nothing happened to the Durbas breeding, still planned to take place in the next couple of months which I'm looking very foward to.  I'm trying to research and find out what else is out there for my own knowledge and research.

Oh ok sometimes people change their minds. Evadic22 there are some true ddr studs that came from frozen semen breeding. I know the was a ad for this on the datebase

I would think for a dog to be classified as a "true" DDR stud, that such a dog would have to been whelped in the former DDR prior to the collapse in 1989, and that was nineteen (19) years ago. Nonetheless, I am sure the lines of the best dogs were preserved to some extent by mating with bloodline bitches (and their progeny) from the former DDR for a generation or two after the collapse. The registered GSD's of the former DDR were eventually brought into the S.V. system. After all, they were all from the same foundation dogs.

Since these lines were isolated from West-German lines (until a bit past 1989)  they probably represent more of the true GSD (my opinion-nothing more) than that of the S.V. flavour. But it has now been a long time, and sufficient time for six (6) generations of dogs from what was the DDR lines. To what extent is the "purity" available, if at all? Is it sufficient in any living dog to be of any merit, or is it just a desire to have? I do not say this to be a smart ass-I am curious and want to know. I did not think these dogs were available in such numbers to make them an important breeding group. From the DDR army and border patrol there were many GSD's available after the collapse but most were of inferior quality as far as breeding animals and merely "looked" the part.

Regards,

Bob-O
