I am thinking of line breeding my female who has VA Scott v Deodatus as her grandfarther and I would like to use a male that has Scott as great grandfather, meaning the litter would be 3 - 4 Scott. I really like the temperament and drives of my female, and I also like Scott.

Is there anyone here that could help with any information for or against this mating

Thank you for any comments

Alleged that Scott died early of torsion.  Probabl;y not a good idea for such a breeding.

Hi first question to ask yourself would be of coarse the goals for the litter is it to better your breeding program down the line?  would the pups be requested by customers?  or is it an attempt to reproduce your dog if so you may be disappointed and never get the same qualities just by linebreeding him.  I should have checked on your boy but the next question I would ask is concerning the linebreeding in your dogs background to see if he is a product of any previous linebreeding and of coarse the same with the chosen mate. You are looking for any negatives best if you have first hand experience of all the members behind those being linebred.

Hi, thank you for your replies, my bitch is line bred 4 - 4 Jeck v Noricum and 5 - 5 Yago v Wildsteiger Land. My aim is first and foremost aim is to better my breeding program, She is 31/2 years old, has excellent hip, elbow scores and breed surveyed class 1. She is also still a maiden bitch. She also has Karly v Arminius GG Grandfather

I own her dam who is line bred 5-5-5 Uran Wildsteiger Land and 5-4 Eiko / Vasal Kirschental

I suggest that you stay away from any more Uran or Scott blood for health reasons in the puppies.  If possible pick the best heathiest male overall producer at the 4 or 5 level in your bitch's pedigree (who is known to produce his same type at his 4-5 linebreeding level in his progeny where he  has been linebred like that and can compensate for your bitch's weaknesses) and then find one good producer four generatons down pedigree from him who is a top producer and can compenmsate for your bitch's weaknesses and then breed her to him.  This will give you puppies with a 4-5 linebreeding which is one of the old trade secrets of the top West German breeders.  Anymore Uran or Scott blood is likely to give you some real heartaches in the health of the puppies.

If I was you I would listen to what Preston states, as you also have Uran and Quando through Jeck, Uran and Quina through Yago, Uran through Eiko.
