Hello,

I am trying to find out what kind of progeny this dog is producing, particularly females. Drives, temperament, hips scores, trainability? I don't want to start any battles, so please keep your answers respectful.

Thank you in advance,

Debbie

Hello -

Why don't you contact Charlie Starr?

I have been very fortunate to find Charlie and his club, and have been able to see Ulko in the flesh and he's an amazing animal.  I also have seen A LOT of his progeny and am equally impressed.  They have INCREDIBLE drives, beautiful conformation, and excellent temperment...not to mention gorgeous pigment.  I haven't seen too many of his male progeny.....2 come to mind...Charlie has a young Ulko son, Andy that is awesome and took 1st place in NC just recently in his puppy class....also Jeff Lund of Schnieden Fels (spelling?) has an AWESOME Ulko son with amazing bitework and drives....he also has the littermate female and she was equally as good in training.  Very impressed.  But I have seen a lot of Ulko female progeny and yes they are very nice.  He produces very nice females.  I didn't see any with nerve issues, and they all have very, very nice drives and trainability........I'm sure it helps that Charlie is the one that's training them..LOL.  I dont' own any Ulko progeny, but would love to one day.

I know Mittelwest has bred to Ulko many times as well as many other top breeders.

Hi Debbie,

I have a 6 week old Ulko litter of 7 here right now...4 females/3 males.  When I was researching stud dogs in the US, I contacted several of the national level helpers that have worked these dogs at big events and received extremely valuable and forthright opinions.  There wasn't a single comment to the negative about Ulko and his temperament for the work, and one went so far as to say that Ulko was the only top showline stud in the country right now that he would breed to and that he would even use him with a working-line bitch.

Every breeder values different qualities higher than others.  Because my breeding goal is to produce showline dogs that can excel in the showring and make you proud on the schutzhund field, and because I have such an outstandingly strong bitch, passion for the work was very important to me.  So far, this litter has pleased me very much...pushy, confident puppies that are very athletic and outgoing.  Naturally picking up items deep in their mouths and carrying them around proudly.  Playing puppy-tug with me, the neighbor kids and strangers.  Not noise sensitive in the least.  And, of course, biting everything they can get their sharp little daggers on!

I understand why you would post a question such as this on the message board rather than contacting the stud dog owner or even the owners of his progeny.  Sometimes people get blind to their dogs faults...mainly because of their love and adoration for their dog.

Best of luck in your search.

Thank you all for your input about Karats Ulko's offspring. I am considering purchasing a 9 month old daughter and was curious about his lines. Her dam's side comes from Viernheimi Nick.

I appreciate everyone that posted as well as emailed me privately.
