Its true, that the male determines the sex of the offspring.
It has been discovered however, that the weaker male sperms
need a glucose rich environment to survive.
When you think your bitch is due to come in, or when you
see the first signs, up her cals with sugary breakfast cereal.
Add a Potassium supplement.
Big helpings of Sugar Frosted Flakes would be good.
Fertility research shows that male sperm and male embryos
aren't likely to survive in lab cultures with low sugar levels.
It has been found that women who eat a sugary cereal for
breakfast, and up their cals, along with potassium from bananas
or supps, are far more likely to have male children.
The rise in glucose provides what the weaker male sperm
seems to need in order to survive.
Scientists have also found that female cows, deer and
horses, produce more male offspring when they have
bountiful diets, that raise their glucose levels.

I find this interesting when there is a bitch I know who always produces the same number of boys and girls in each litter - first 3 and 3 then 5 and 5.
That doesnt equate to whats above.

That's funny because I'm a sugarholic. I'm a diabetics nightmare and I have been known to eat cereal, breakfast, lunch and dinner, had to eat lots of fruits and cereal when prego because cooked foods made me want to barf...I had a girl. I think allot more than food has to do with what you get.

I dont think its that simple either. Although I have no preference in a litter the last one had many more males than females and if I do breed her this fall I will pay more attention to the ratio just out of curiousity over this post.

According to the studies, the male sperms have a much greater chance of survival in a raised glucose and potassium rich environment. Its when the eggs are fertilized at conception that this environment matters. Once pregnant, it would be too late to make the female's body more hospitable to sperm carrying the male chromosome.
The study on humans was published last week, in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, a British medical journal. The studies on other animals have produced the same findings. I have no plans on breeding, but if I ever do, I am going to see if there is truth to the findings.

So if you want more males you up there sugar and pottasium intake. If you want females you have to hope they are low? You know another way to determine what you will get is...If you have people who want males you will get nothing but females and vice versa.LOL
