What is the average cost for an AD, BH, and SchH1 ? (IE, you send your dog to a trainer for the titles and do NOT do it yourself)?

I have a friend who is looking around on the East Coast, and was told $5000 for the AD, BH, and SchH1 (with an extra monthly fee for boarding) does that sound high or average?

sounds high

probably cheaper in the long run to send to a trusted trainer in Germany.

I would have to say around 1500 dollars to 2,ooo dollars.per tittle the ad should not be much they just run around a track maybe paying the handler if your dog is already conditioned.

Where is the pride in getting someone else to SchH your Dog for you, i can guess that same person can say and boast to others my Dog is say SchH 3,

But whatever the owner may think it is false and he knows he was not capable of training his own Dog to that Standard, it is False Pride as far as i am concerned, and he will have achieved nothing except spend his money

Not my cup of tea in any Sport or paatime,  Do it yourself or leave it alone

Putting the titles on your dog yourself is what trainers do.  When a breeder has the dogs and need for them to be evaluated for breeding purposes then they need to send them to another person to have this done.  I guess they just figure it is part of the expense of breeding.

It is kind of like a lot of sports.  I bet you don't play professional baseball, basketball, or football, but you sure enjoy watching.  You probably understand also the importance of the training involved for them to play the sport.  Thank God we human guys don't get evaluated for breeding based on our titles.  I think I'd be a lonely guy.

Just my 2 cents.

The Person who posted this thread, did not mention that he wanted the Dog for Breeding

How much better for a Kennel if they can Train there Dogs to SchH3 Standard, themselves then breed from them, that is the mark of a very good breeding kennel and person who owns it, for putting in the effort to train there own dogs

and what a filip to them when they get results they set out to do

I know they do that a lot over here and several in the two clubs i train at,

But i guess that is the general way to go in the USA get someone else to train them, then take the accolades,

but its not like that over here perhaps in part but a lot bring there own Dogs on and then breed from them once they are qualified

I know One Particular Breeding Dog and a good one he is too,

The Owner who has a Breeding Kennel and this Dog is the Main Stud of that kennel trains weekly in the whole SchH programe, He is never left to go stale and forget

$5000 is outrageous, if you ask me.

steve1, you don't know the owners situation at all, it's not fair to attack them.

usimports- tell your friend to keep looking around.

who cares who trains the dog...personally I train my own dogs not for sport, but for real life working purposes.  On the other side of the fence, my buddy just bought on old Malibu that needs some TLC...a car he's wanted since he was a kid...now he found it but he's no mechanic, so he pays someone to fix his car, no big deal...who cares right?

As far as prices, after I saw this post I did a little research:  I found a guy in NC who seemed to have good refrences and lots of experience...for a completely green dog with no work....3 months inboard training = SchH1 title, at 800 a month...and he said he would be willing to work with me....dogs w/ some training may be less

Kczaia

where is the attacxking bit on my part regards the person posting i would say you and Sim have a strange set of values regards what you think is correct and Right

Perhas you are a person who likes things done for them and then take the accolades for them when you have not done anything  there are many like that about. Me. i like to acchieve something to say yes, i did that, not for other people but for myself it is me that i have to satisfy no one else, so everything i set out to do is done by myself

That is not to say that i do not have help to get there,

That is natural, I have the help over here and they are as good as you can get anywhereand i am lucky in that respect

I am talking about Dogs now, but i am the one handling and putting in the work

It was the same with Racing Pigeons, i worked hard and had a good tutor to put me tright and we became among the best in out country, The Same in my younger Days when i practised Karate i trained 6 days a week  (evenings) for 10 years or more

I was not bad at it but again i had a good tutor

We all need the expert help but it is the sense that you have done something by working at it  and doing it yourself is what i am getting on about, Its a lot different than paying the same fellow to actually train the Dog for you

You people over there think a lot differently than we do in England and that is on mosts walks of life you have a set of values which go with the Country or it seems your way of life and i suppose it is the same in England we too think a lot different to you people

Having been on several Forums all American based they all  mostly have the same way of thinking and it is different  way from over here in Belgium and in England, I am now talking about to do with  Dogs

$800 per month for a SchHI is still high, I think. With the limited number of trials in the US (compared to Germany), I doubt the title could be obtained in 3 months. So let's say, 6 months at $800= $4800. Would that also include the BH, AD and KKL?
