I have a 3 month old bitch who is facing a problem during emiction (peeing). At first, I thought that the problem was that her pubis appeared to be inside the belly. This is causing her difficulty when peeing and also chafe (irritation).
I have been waiting for 1 month, hoping for this condition to improve, but it has not. So, I took her to my vet. The pictures I attach are taken in the vet's practice. The first is the normal photo, the other two are taken with the flesh extended by the vet. As you see in the photos, there is too much flesh in her belly, which is folding naturally, thus creating a cavity which traps the pubis inside.
The vet said he had not seen anything like it before and, after speaking with a more experienced collegue in such matters (who also stated that he had not encountered a similar situation before), he characterised it as a genetic malformation of the skin and they decided that it needs plastic surgery for removing the ecxess skin.
However, the amount of skin to be removed has yet to be decided since the flesh is elastic and there is a danger that the problem comes back. Moreover, there are also other issues involved about the technique since, below the pubis, is located the urethra and this hides some danger during surgery...
Has anybody faced something similar before?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have seen a number of vulvas with folds like this thru the years although not quite as recessed as this one..... this puppy needs cleaning and wiping after she urinates to reduce the inflammation and stickiness.
I am not sure I would do anything right now on such a young dog but would wait until she grows .. maybe her belly skin will tighten up some...
I don't think she will ever have a normal protruding vulva .. makes her not such a good candidate for breeding and whelping..
We used to see it a lot in the older heavier labs and goldens.. absolutely needs to be kept clean

perhaps some aqueous creme ??? speak to your vet and ask if it might help.
the other thing i thought was bitch pants the ones with a pad to stop her licking and causing further irritation.
the sand or git in the photos will only make it worse so keep her really clean
when she has had a pee get a garden spray with saline solution in spray her down then dry properly and put the pants on
hope this helps and good luck

I strongly suggest you do as DiKah above states. DO NOT consider any type of surgery. Get some antibiotic cream, keep the entire area clean and dry, and put the antibiotic cream on the area to protect it the skin. Make sure the puppy is not too fat. A cream in the US that would also work fine is something called Desitin. It is for baby diaper rash (humans) and will also protect the area from urine. And remember, urine can burn skin as well. So again, keeping the area clean and dry is critical. From the extent of the redness on the skin, it appears she is laying in urine? Is she crated or otherwise confined? If so, you must be certain to let her out more frequently or this will not improve simply because she is wet.
These involuted vulvas as it is called, will almost always get better on their own as the dog gets older. In the meantime, it is up to YOU to be sure she stays clean and dry. If the rash is not better with localized treatment perhaps your vet might also provide some antibiotic just in case she has a urinary tract infection as well. It also appears she has several small infected pustules. That is why I would suggest an antibiotic as well if these do not get better with cleaning and keeping her dry.
Good luck.

I, too, have seen it but not to the extent of what you have there.
I don't think I'd consider surgery until after she was mature and saw what coming into heat did for the condition. If she is always being treated for having a UTI (urinary tract infection) from the condition as she gets older, only then would I look into surgical intervention. Some vets suggest proceedures so they can make $.
Her first heat might help fix the condition by the swelling of the privates during heat. Females usually stay a little larger down there than puppy size after the first heat-that might help with the problem. She may not ever be an ideal breeding prospect, but it shouldn't hurt her as a nice competition dog, companion, etc.
I would try some sparce A+D ointment from time to time once you get the spots healed up to keep down skin irritation until you get to see what happens when she comes in heat. Keep in mind creams and ointments can and will be licked, so watch how much and what you put on her so that she doesn't injest too much of it. Try to treat from the inside out via oral antibiotics.

She has staph pyoderma in the inguinal area due to the moisture created by the inverted vulva. The latter condition should resolve after her first heat. Keep the area clean and dry. I would also suggest oral antibiotics (usually cephalexin) for several weeks. Do not consider surgery.

Thank you all for your precious feedback!
After these comments, I will try my best to keep the skin healthy & clean until her first heat.
Thanks!

Hello Petros,
I am once again writing on this problem. I already wrote today but some how the massage could not be reached and it lost where I do not know.
Please note that these short of problems either may belong to urinary track or inside base somwhere into vaginal track of the she dog. She might have got this short of insfection from her parents. It is curable perfectlly through Homoeopathy Treatment by the process of draning through urination. You can also try some good Homeopathic Physician around your place. I am in India and doing my breeding jobs in my Kennel 'von der Goldenberg' since last 10 years. And, it must be taken into count that my dogs are being kept upon Homoeopathy for every kind of their need physical, constitutional or vaccination even.
I am an hobbiest Homoeopath and a Fellow to The British Institute of Homoeopathy, London. And, I am of the opinion that your small/young female dog can be perfectlly OK through Homoeopathy Treatment. If you permit me and are ready to discuss our team may do the magic miracle.
Best of luck and hope to hear a word from you in the matter.

She appear to have a "innie" and the breeder should have seen this when she was a puppy. A female with a innie should not be breed and most times will also have frequent Urinary Tract Infections so watch her for more than skin rashes. Type in female reproduction problems with Innie and you can get some articles about this condition.
