These codes appear in the same place as things such as V and SchH2, can you suggest what they might mean please?
Thanks,
peter

In which country was the pedigree isssued? When you say the acronyms appear in the 'same place as . . .' do you mean in front of and behind the dog's name?
DNA on a pedigree issued by the SV means DNA has been collected for evaluation of molecular genetic lineage. IRK is a dog name, of course; it can also stand for Internationaler Rottweiler Klub, Internationales Rotes Kreuz (probably not pertinent on a dog's pedigree <G>), and a number of other things. The JU I don't know. If you'll post the dog's full name and country I may be able to do some research and find the information. Context is always important.

Thanks Aqua, we'd really appreciate anything you can tell us, the pedigree has FCI and WUSV on it, it was issued at Plovdiv (Bulgaria) under the auspices Allgemein Register fur Deutsche Schaferhunde. Each entry on the pedigree has a box with headings: father (or mother) name; father (or mother) number; Qualifications/attributes; Colours and markings; Description. These codes appear under the "qualifications/ attributes" heading.
DNA is on:
Hagdahl s Arex, number SZ 2008846
Winecke's Vanta, number 30562
Cello v d. Romerau, number SZ 1633408
Loggia d. Mercanti, number SZ 1759715
Agge aus Wojwodina, number SZ 1859277
IRK is on:
Bard, number BSV 0927
JU is on:
Enno aus Wojwodina, number SZ 2009027
Elina Bastorix, number JRSp 81019
Thanks again, peter

Hi Peter,
Since you apparently have the full paper pedigree and these abbreviations appear under Qualifications/Attributes, look on the 3rd and 4rth pages. In most cases there are tables showing abbreviations and their meanings. It may include JU and IRK.
I've sent some feelers out to some of my sources and will let you know if/when I hear back.

Thanks again Aqua, tables would be nice - but not there. Although the pedigree is 4 pages it is only an A4 sheet folded in half. Page 1 is our dog's details. pages 2 and 3 is his pedigree and page 4 is a record of ownership and "Results".
I hope your sources turn something up. Do you expect DNA, JU and IRK do NOT have anything to do with these bad hips we've been reading about?
best wishes,
peter

Hello Peter,
In answer to your question, no. DNA, JU, and IRK are not related to hip ratings. As I said earlier, DNA means that DNA has been collected from the dog for identification purposes.
I've had one response from a source in Bulgaria, about Bard. She says:
" Bard was born in Bulgaria and was a very good-looking dog for his time. Unfortunately he had very little drive and temperament. Bard covered very many bitches here in Bulgaria, most of them without papers. IRK refers to a trial which used to be held in Bulgaria by the police many years ago. Ten and more years ago hardly anybody besides the police trialed their dogs. Fortunately everything has changed now and we're beginning to have much better animals."
No info yet on JU other than an educated guess that the dog was born in Yugoslavia (Jugoslavien).
I'm waiting for a response to my other enquiries and will pass them along.

Hello Peter,
I've heard back from the SV delegate to Bulgaria, Venelyn Dylchev.
BSV (you didn't ask but here it is anyway) stands for Bulgarischer Verein Fuer Deutsche Schaeferhunde.
IRK is a BSV-approved working dog trial.
JU means Jugoslawien (Yugoslavia)
JRSp states that the dog is listed in the Yugoslavian stud book under the registration number shown.
Hope this is of help to you.
