In October I purchased a female puppy from a breeder I had previously purchased another female GSD from several years before. At the time, he assured me that he would have her papers shortly. The litter she was from was advertised on this site as well as the breeder's personal website as being registered with the AKC and Schutzhund USA. Over the last few months I have contacted her breeder on numerous occasions to be met with several 'excuses'. One being the paperwork was in the mail, another being that her dam may have to have her breed survey done again, and several others. The breeder currently has another litter, a full blood litter to my female, advertised as well, and the breeder's website still is claiming that the puppies from the current litter will be dual registered. I know I was very stupid to not have the papers in hand when I left with my girl. Any suggestions on how to get her papers or settle this matter?

Keep working on the breeder first of all. Keep things civil at least as far as the breeder is concerned. Record conversations, or put them on open speakers with witness's present. Go see them in person. Try to get them to put something in writing. If your going to get legal make sure you dont tip your hand until your ready. Dont make threats, just ask for whats right. Its not like this is the first time this has come up on the board, just try to be smart now.
There is always something you can do, just do it right.

If you are waiting on SV/USA papers, then don't worry too much. They take a really loooooooong time and can get held up over unbelievably minute details. The main thing is if you have a good relationship with the breeder, everything should be OK. I take it you have rec'd the AKC registration form?

Yeah, like Sue says, the USA papers can take a year is what I've heard. The AKC papers should be available, unless the parents were from a foreign registry. It can take a long while in puppy-fever-Spring for the DNA to come back so that the AKC Foreign Dog registration application papers can then be sent in and thereafter the litter is registered. Some people make the mistake of not calling on the DNA results, and they take forever to get the results to the breeders. If what you are not getting are the AKC papers, the parents are already registered with the AKC with no DNA issues, then you do have something to worry about.

Everyone has good suggestions, there are times when the paperwork has just taken forever and we also had problems getting one of our mom's registered with AKC. A couple of times, the paperwork has just slipped our minds.. we just get too busy... but we try to get it done on time and will pay for expediting and express mail because we know people want their paperwork and they should have it.
I'm sure you will get your paperwork, just keep reminding them.

You can always call the USA office and find out if they have the paperwork and if it has been processed.
