I wouldn't have thought anything would have been different, since the whole family were  slaughtered... unless you know something I wasn't taught at school?

Misbeeb, I was referencing the incidents and mindset of the Tsar leading up to the Russian Revolution, including the influence of Gregori Rasputin. Rasputin would not have been on scene, but for his apparently beneficial effect when the tsarevich suffered hemophilia episodes and the fact that he had the Imperial ears and meddled in affairs of state as a result. Add to that the other actions and inactions that were due to Alexei's condition and episodes, including those impcating the Imperial Family directly, such as the escape opportunities, and things might well have been very different. The Russians have always known that they did not find the remains of "all" the daughters. There was eveidence supporting one of the "Anastasias" (Anderson), and the German Supreme court was unable to declare her "not" Anastasia. Arguably, DNA results support as much of Anderson's claim asrefute her paternity. :-) Makes for good films, too! If interested, check out Gleb Botkin's books on Anastasia. He is the son of the Imperial physician, who was murdered in the Ipatiev House, along with the Imperial Family.

Ah!  Queen Victoria left her mark in more ways than one!  I always thought Rasputin was creepy looking... maybe he did have special powers!

I pass guys on the street every week who look, and smell, like Rasputin. I think the theory is that he used hypnosis, or something close to relax the boy and stop the bleeding. It was sort of a primitive form of bio feedback. Yes, between Quenn Victoria's genes and that penchant for marrying cousins, those royal families doomed themselves, had geo-political developments not taken most of them down anyway. Ever seen photos of Prince Edward and the last Tsar? They could almost be twins! In fact, it was the British prince's DNA that was used to identify the tsar's remains by DNA several years ago. :-) That good ol' dna from the motherline!

+++The tragic aspect of the situation is that as soon as the SV realized Canto Wienerau was a hemophiliac, they could have instituted testing of all descendants of Canto daughters and they could have allowed only normal males and non-carrier females to have been used for breeding.  As it is, hemophilia A became widespread and can travel hidden down through an infinite number of generations of females.++

Well they didnt so geeee time to  move forward...
Anyone who  cares to can have breeding dogs owned and used tested on a regular basis as part of a yearly stud pre reqt program....

WHY some breeders feel they must rely on an organization to think for them is beyond me.

Vwd and the factor 8, 9 and ? tests are available for those that care to use them.  You can do it at OFA time. if that makes it easier to remember to do it.
