Just curious as to what others are paying for having OFA hips/elbows done. My vet just raised his price to $405. Is this the average cost nowadays?

Last year, at Michigan State University I paid $150 for both hips and elbows, and then the OFA fee...that's it. I don't know if it's because MSU is a teaching hospital, or what, but thats what I paid.

What department do you get in touch with at MSU to get them done? I will be doing Chaos soon. Could take a day off of work, drive over there and get it all done in one shot!

I guess it depends on the Vet and State maybe even County. I am in Fl. and as I found out the Vets who due them have diffrent prices, but the price you gave is petty much average here, unless you have the chance to go to a teaching hospital or University as I done last year I went to Gainesville and got it for a lesser price.
Search your Area Vets or a teaching hospital close by you. You also may check out Penn Hip.

I paid $285 for PennHips. It then took about two weeks to get the results...

The two places we use and recommend in the greater Seattle WA area are close to $500 for hips and elbows. One place does films, the other does digital. Looking at the last receipts it appears a good portion of that is the anethesia.

$200. ($80. hips $80. elbows $40. office visit)
I prefer a vet who can get xrays without anesthesia or sedative

I forget what we run, but around 400 give or take sounds like what it should be. If it's a regular patient we don't charge for the office visit. A new patient that we haven't seen we charge an office visit. Pre op bloodwork, sedation, and then the films.
I've tried both of my dogs without sedation, but I definitely prefere the sedate, usually Domitor. Way less stressful on the dog.
