Royal Canin for GS Puppies I find is the best food to feed them to start out and once they 1year old you switch them to Royal Canine GS Adult. You also can feed this to your Berger.

Yes, I'm feeding Royal Canin German shepherd puppies too, and it is the best food, which I ever had.
It's a little bit more expensiv, but you don't need so much.
Or ask the breedr, which food he used.
Good luck with your puppies

The ingredients in Royal Canin do not even BEGIN to hold a candle to those in Canidae.

Shany, some of the foods you listed are excellent foods, some are not so good (my opinion) and you listed several with that i am not familiar.
For more than six (6) years I have used Royal Canin dog foods with good results for puppies and dogs of all ages. There are other posters on this database who use both Candidae and Eagle Pack and they are happy with the results. So, there are at least three (3) good dog food brands for your puppy.
Now, these are are my personal opinions for foods I have tried, but do not use: Many years ago I used Pro Plan and it seemed to be okay. I was not pleased with the digestability of Eukanuba, and I do not recommend Science Diet as I think it is but a marketing ploy.
Best Regards,

i saw canidae have protein 24%
while royal canin for german shpherd have 30%
i have understood that in big dogs high protein is not recommended
to their growth.. is the 6 % can harm??
thank you

Shany, I do not know what is available where you live. The 30% crude protein level sounds correct for Royal Canin GSD Maxi Puppy, and I know the adult formula GSD Maxi 24 has a crude protein level of 24%.
Puppies do need more protein than an adult dog in order to develop correctly. But, as with all things one must be careful even while feeding a good food, and take care to not overfeed the puppy. Many puppy owners will read the label on the side of the dog food bag and feed the puppy the amount stated. For many puppies this is too much food and it causes them to grow too quickly. If you feed a good dog food then you do not need any calcium or calcium/phosphorus supplements. It is okay to give the puppy good vitamins, but beware the additional calcium. It is also okay to give the puppy a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement as well and this may prevent the development of joint disease.
At seven (7) weeks of age a GSD puppy appears to be a bit chubby if he is healthy, and this anatomy will change to a lean apperance as he matures-provided he is fed correctly. The best way to determine how well the puppy receives nutrition from his food is to (a) occassionally observe his feces-it should be medium-dark, well-formed and firm, and (b) as he becomes older you should be able to easily feel his ribs, vertebrae, and horns of the pelvis.
You should divide your puppy's daily ration into three (3) or four (4) feedings, as his body will absorb the food better. After twenty-four (24) weeks of age you can change and divide his daily ration to two (2) feedings per day. So, when should you switch to adult food? That is your decision, and many people do it when the puppy reaches twenty-four (24) weeks of age in order to maintain slow growth. That is not what I do, but it does work for many people.
I have successfully used Royal Canin GSD Maxi puppy formula as long as fourteen (14) months before I switched the puppies to adult formula. But, that was under my control and I use my eyes and hands to determine if the puppy is getting enough food. I should add that I never fed the puppies as much as the bag stated I should.
Regards-and good luck,
Bob-O
