I'm looking for a younger German Shepherd rescue for a friend of mine .    They had to put their 13 yr. old male down.   He had a huge stomach tumor .    Needless to say they are both a mess .    They are both in their 60's and have no kids .

Their dog was their kid !   And yes he was also a rescue as a pup .   He had a wonderful loving long life .   They do not have a computer so I said I would help her look .    They are looking for a male pup or something under 1 yrs. old .  Black/ tan or Black / red or any color BUT WHITE !     I can tell you ,   the adopted pup / or older pup , would have the best home , will be kept in the house of course .     These are really good people (animal lovers for sure )  .   If anyone has or knows of where there is one please contact me .      I truly feel for these people as everyone knows who has lost a true friend .     So all you German shepherd people other there , please keep an eye open  .  Or if you have a pup that just needs a great home .they just want a nice pup !!    I just dont want them to visit any pet stores !   They are located in Drums , PA -  Country setting .   please email me at pattymb1@frontiernet.net     .     Thank you in advance .   Patty

Look on Petfinder.  It lists all the GSD rescues across the country.

The S.P.C.A. of Gettysburg had a German Shepherd. Don't know if they still do not. Also don't know if that is even close for you.

That's sounded a bit mean when you mention anything but white, especially
when talking rescue, a GSD is a GSD regardless of it's color.

Here's my old boy, some people that got a pup from me came back to visit,
it was a female pup about 5 months old, Kane always loved the girls!

He was very personable, extremely friendly, very polite and well manered
yet loyal & protective, he is missed..................

This is the last picture I took of " Kane"

Patty:

Not sure where Drum PA is, but there are currently two adult GSD - 1 male 1 female in the Perkiomen SPCA - Montgomery County, PA.   Also there is a 1.5 year old female in this shelter as well.  The first two says good with children, but the younger one says prefer to adopt to family without small children.  This shelter is about 35 miles west of Philadelphia.

If interested you need more information, please let me know.

Mirasmom-Just because someone wants to take in a rescue it doesn't mean they have no right to have preferences in the dog they want. You had a white shepherd you loved. That doesn't mean everyone wants one.

There's nothing "mean" about taking in a rescue. Whether they have preferences or not. I can't imagine that everyone who walks into a shelter takes the first dog they see? People choose the dog they want. Nothing wrong with that.

To the OP I hope your friends find a wonderful dog they will be happy with.

Dawgs
