Got a question, hope y'all can help.  I still keep in touch and visit with the puppies that I had from my last litter.  One of the females will be 2 in September and hasn't been through a heat yet.  Have you ever had this happen?  The 2 other females from the litter have already had 2 heats that were rather close together.  What are your opinions about this?

Thanks!

Cole

Maybe she had a silent heat, and there were no males around her,
so nobody noticed.......

Interesting, but she is a house dog.  To be sure, someone would have noticed.   What else influences a dogs cycle?  Size, environment, etc...

Thanks Again,

Cole

If she is a house dog, with no male around, unless she is a very, very heavy bleeder, it would be difficult for anyone to notice. Her owner would have to really get up close to see swelling and a sign of blood.  If she was around other fertile females, when they came in, it may draw her in as well.

I have had 1 dog that was born without reproductive organs, I didnt know it until I took her in at 1 year to get spayed and the vet couldnt find and reproductive organs at all, go figure, I thought she was just a late bloomer

okay, finally  found it..

Thanks for all the input.  She may have been through a silent heat, but that is something that I've never dealt with.  Any other ideas?

Thyroid problems can often stop a girl from coming into heat.  If it was my dog  I would visit the vet in order to rule out a few things.

That is exactly what I told the owner.  Like I said before, I've never had this happen.  I also haven't had a female to have 2 heat cycles within about 4 months of each other.  The other two females from this same litter had to back to back heat cycles within a year.  This litter is only a year and a half old.  Someone mentioned to me that this is not good.  What has been your experience?

I had a female from my litter. all her sister came into heat twice as a normal dog. She turned 2 years old and a bit after that she fianly came in heat. She lives with 3 other female who have normal cycles. We also have a male and he never indicated anything eather .. My vets said just wait she will come in... I was unsure and they did look at her a few tiems to make sure that everything was ok. So we waited and she did come in . She was 2  and her hips were done and her BH was done . So i bred her to my male. The pups are 4 months old and she is in heat again like a normal dog.. Yah ..
