Please forward this to as many people as you can.

* In Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies… the Bush/Cheney Administration has eliminated vital federal protections for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies. The move officially opens the door to the shooting, trapping, and killing of up to 1,050 wolves.

* In Alaska… state officials continue to allow airborne gunners to kill hundreds of wolves. Easy targets against the snow, hundreds of wolves have been shot from above or chased to exhaustion and then killed by aerial gunners who land and execute them at point-blank range.

* In the Southwest… misinformation and anti-wolf sentiment runs high, with wolf recovery in Arizona and New Mexico limited to a defined area if the wolves set up territories elsewhere, they are captured and returned.

You can sign all petitions you want until your fingers go numb; until the current administration in D.C. is gone, it is an excercise in futility. Vote carefully in November.

Nicolesowner, At least I feel that I did something to help these beautiful creatures. I'm not wealthy so therefor I cannot donate $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to help the wolves. I'm one of those 54,170 people who signed and I'm proud of it too.

I never voted for Bush to be in office. I never liked the man and can't understand why hes still in office and not inside of a federal prison awaking his liquidation for the crimes he commited while in office.

This may not be the best wolf rescue page, but it might be a start:

http://users.aol.com/wolflvr3/help/rescue.html

There are many other wolf/wolf hybrid rescue organizations out there (many of them just as bogus as the breeders). If you want to save a wolf, and have a place to keep one, do your duty, find a good rescue kennel, and give a big wild furball a place to stretch their legs. If I had acreage, I would have a Siberian Timberwolf in a heartbeat; unfortunately, I live within a mile of a major metropolitan downtown, and the neighbors freak when the Malamute part of my GSD mix starts in howling at a treed possum. Even if the bulletbrained buttholes kill off every wolf in the wild, those of us that give a crap can turn the tables and repopulate the wild in 10 years once the politics change.

I have had friends that have kept Alaskan Greys within a half mile of skyscrapers, and it is no life for a wolf; on the upside, the big (150#) guys lived to 17 years old, and were loved every day of their lives, and returned that love in kind. If you live on a farm, what the frack are you waiting for?
