..to pics of dogs that had one white parent and one with an acceptable color?
I'm not interested in:
- obtaining one
- encouraging anything or anyone
- criticizing anything or anyone.
I am interested in seeing examples and seeing the extent to which the various aspects of acceptable colors are effected.
- The effect on the eumelanin (black-based) and phaeomelanin (red/yellow-based); density & dispersal.
Thanks in advance

Trafalgar: I like your attitude on this post...very interesting and I hope this turns into a very great study......
Thanks..
When I first purchased my Busecker Schloss girl I was intrigued as I searched for a male...at how many people had pedigrees with a white dog stuck back three or four generations back and they didnt even know it was there,,,,,

I have been wondering if there was any truththat a recessive white gene can causing color fading. I know of several lines of dogs that have the white gene, and seem to produce a lot of faded colors. One is the Rin Tin Tin line, which introduced a stud from the Hoofprint dogs, and the other is the Shiloh Shepherd, which also was outcrossed to a white GSD (Hoofprint Orbit.)
They say it doesn't make a difference, but I am wondering, and would like to know the results of your research!

Oops, you asked for links!
Rin Tin Tin website: http://www.rintintin.com/upcominglitters.htm Many of the RInty dogs are on the PDB, too.

If you are not familar with the Shioh, they started out as a strain of GSD, selected for large size, straight backs and moderate angulation. The breed founder liked black and silver dogs, and also bred to several pure white dogs, as well as a pure black long-haired GSD (Alt Deutscher Schaeferhund) (Artus). The breeder eventually broke with the AKC, so she could outcross to breeds other than the GSD. The early dogs, before 1990, are all AKC/CKC registered, though. You will see 2 of the white dogs in the picture pedigrees I've posted above (Baker's Snow, and Hoofprint Orbit, who was also crossed into the Rin Tin Tin line) There were also white GSD's in the outrcross the breed founder did to Samson, who was part Malemute. Samson also carried genes from the Littlest Hobo GSD's, which were black and silver.

Here's a pedigree for Hoofprint Orbit. You can get pictures of the ancestors by clicking on the dogs whose names are blue.
