I have a 4,5 year old bitch who will not evacuate for the last 7-8 days. She also vommits from time to time. She is in a really bad condition.
We have x-rayed her and opened her to see what is going on. The vet said that there is no mechanical reason for the blockage of the intestine (which was dog dirt) and diagnosed it as paralytic ileum (ileus). I have her on Primperan injections (3 times per day since last night) and clysters hoping that the intestine will work.
Any experiences and suggestions?

I know that cats can get a sumilar condition called "mega-colon". I believe that there is some success in surgically removing the affected portion of the bowel.
In humans, an "ileus" may be caused by an injury to the lower spine (sacrum) or pelvis. When I suffered (roadworking a dog--what else?) a compression fracture of my lumbar spine, nothing moved for several days.
I would have your bitch examined by a veterinary neurologist--if one is available.
In the meantime a stool softener such as DSS many be helpful.
