Hello,
I have a 10 day old whelp who is crying consistently. My bitch is getting un-nerved and so am I. Any tips? This is my first Working line GSD litter, we wanted a male pup out of my bitch. I have bred Havanese for a decade. It's like classical vs heavy metal! This first and last time breeding my bitch, this is her third litter.

This male pup is out of a litter of 8, all have been content up to this point. The box is 70-75 degrees (with the lamp) I'm suspicious it may be gas,  My bitch has an abundant milk supply and the pups can hardly keep up with her let down.  I do have infant gas drops, not sure how much I should give him.
Thanks in advance,
Ronnie in CT

Are all the puppies crying or just the one puppy? Can the puppies get away from the heat lamp to cool off? Many times they will cry because they are actually too hot if they are being raised in the home.
The puppy will normally cry because of temperature or gotta go to the bathroom. Sometimes the puppy can get a little constipated or not stimulated enough to go to the bathroom.
Try wiping the puppy with a damp cotton ball under his tail, like his mom will do to stimulate to go to the bathroom.

Warning signs of trouble in neonatal puppies are 1 or more of the following signs; weakness, failure to nurse, insufficient weight gain, temperature drop, dehydration, continuous crying, Diarrhea and/or vomiting and rejection by the dam.  I would be concern if the puppy was showing another sign other than just the crying.   I

Sorry for delay in update, thank you to the one person who reached out to me! Much appreciated!  I surmised that there were other breeders on this list.  Anyhow, it was gas, gave him a 1/2 dropperful of Infant Gas drops, took care of it. My bitch had an abundant milk supply due to the supplement we were giving her and I took her off cottage cheese. Pups are gaining! Looking forward to them being strong, accomplished working dogs like their sire & dam! Yes, titled. The advertisement is listed under puppies CT
