It's been a while since I've done one, but if i remember correctly about 4 hours covered everything. The judge did a temperment test first, then everyone got their dogs ready for the AD. I think 4 hours would be plenty, again it has been a while.

It should take ~2-2.5 hours. Of course, at certain California clubs, I've known of some AD's to only be 2-3 miles long!

Thank you both for the reply.
Our Judge flys out early on Sunday but it looks like we'll have plenty of time to fit in an AD- We just have to drag our buts out of bed early!

Loiuse,
That was too funny!

s_vargas, well, you know it's true! It is of particular help to ply the judge with booze!
BTW, I'm not just singling out one of these California clubs (usually, WDA) as the"Lone Ranger"--there are several.

Ours take about 2-2.5 hours.........................there is no temperament test per se. Just some rudimentary obedience afterwards, and the two 20 minute breaks for inspection of the dogs.

Am I missing something here? Isn't the AD 12 miles? (mine were)

We had one dog last year that went for her AD on very rough and muddy terrain. The judge, at their discretion, may shorten it a bit because of terrain. I think hers worked out to be around 8 miles or so. Of course, that's still way more than 2 or 3, LOL

Hi Guys
you talk about how long the AD takes, what do you think of this scenario
I want to Take my 'Fred ' for his AD when he passes his BH, this spring.
But i have not rode a Bike now for forty years, Do you think i will get round in the alloted time or some where near the other competitors. Perhaps the Judge will have to carry his own Beer and Sandwiches, and possibly a sleeping bag
