Advertisers of Dogs 4 sale...

I have a question....

Those that advertise here about dogs for sale/adoption, who do you think you are advertising to?

I just e-mailed someone advertising a GSD that I was potentially interested in for a female family friend and because I have a website and am listed as a "kennel" I am not good enough it seems to at least ask about the dog.

The dog was advertised as a pet and all I asked was for more information and told where I was located and gave my website address. The response I got was "Like the ad clearly states, she is available a pet home ONLY.  Absolutely will NOT consider selling her to a kennel!"

they probably thought you were saying one thing and meaning another - as in, you were interested in her for breeding.  If I were selling a dog for pet-only, I'd be sure to have the dog spayed/neutered before placing, to avoid the worry that she may end up going to a breeder "kennel" when I want her to be someone's special pet.  Sounds like a misunderstanding to me - hard to tell tone of voice via internet also, you had good intentions but they obviously didn't know that.

Perhaps they pre-judged you before asking questions because you are a breeder/kennel.

Maybe: they don't want the female bred and are wondering why you...a breeder...would want a "pet".

If the dog is not for you perhaps you are shopping for someone else...they want to have control over where the dog goes and don't want the dog going to a "broker".

They want the dog living in a house not a kennel and are jumping to conclusions as to where you would keep the dog.

I agree they were rude and should have asked questions before jumping the gun...but "kennels" do have a stigma in pet peoples eyes.

The perfect ending is that their suspiscion and rude attitude meant they lost the possibility of selling the dog to a great home.

Simply move on to another dog for purchase.

Win/win situation, seems to me.

I AM sorry that you were treated poorly....but finding a great dog is a numbers game...send out 100 inquiries for every dog wanted - that's the way to go, IMO
