Recently I had a convesation regarding hip x-rays and would like your opinions.
A bitch had a hip score of 1/1.
Only score recorded was Acetabular Fossa 1/1.
I was told that if everything else was 00 then Acetabular Fossa should also be 00
Is this correct?

Was this a stupid question?

No. It is not a stupid question, but it is an UNCLEAR question. What are you asking? Are you saying that in the results you received that there was also a comment "acetabular fossa"? If so, it may be that there is some defect or problem with that part of the bone and that was the reason for the rating.....more information would be helpful if we are to assist you.

Thank you hodie,
This dogs' hip score is all zeros except for the acetabular fossa no comment just 1/1.
It also seems that I am seeing a small number of dogs lately that have zeros everywhere except for the acetabular fossa which is scored at 1/1. It maybe just that some examiners have a problem giving all zeros. I am not saying that I have a problem with a total score of 2, Who would not be happy with that ?

You could always contact a BVA Scrutineer and ask this question. Don't know what area you live, but there is a scrutineer at Cambridge University and another is Brian Turner in Hertfordshire vets@vetreferrals.co.uk or 01707 336919.

I have had dogs scored under the scheme achieving 0:0, a 1 in the AF normaly signifies some changes in bone density.
