What is your opinion as to when to ship a pregnant female? I had one absorb her pups due to the stress of the flight. I want to get it right this time.

why ship a pregnant dog? er...risk! what about the animals welfare? if it went wrong why do it again? i know its v common, but we would never subject that kind of stress upon a pregnant animal. i think its disrespectful.

Dont ship if you know it will stress them. A member of our board here had one shipped from Germany and she only ended up with a tiny one pup....I cant remember what happened....but several I know lost the pups afterward or they absorbed them knowing they were xrayed before shipping and were pregnant...

I recently had a similar question. The consensus seems to be ship between 6 and 6.5 weeks.
I don't understand the comment about shipping a pregnant bitch as "disrespectful". Ladies and women fly pregnant all the time but only at certain times during the pregnancy. Not sure I understand the difference if the doctor says it's alright.

I would never ship a pregnant dog... it is to stressful for the dog and to many things can go wrong from losing the pups to even losing the mother if she decides to go into labor on the flight and has difficulties.

What kinda crapy nerved dogs are you guys importing.We have received several dogs that were in welp and didnt loose one litter.They all had full litters 12,9,9,8,ect.They were all Xrayed prior to shipping and were always shipped after the 3rd week.If a dog has that bad of nerves than you shouldnt be breeding it at all.

if you know ur dog is nervous dont ship her its not fair i dont ship bitches in whelp as this time is stressfull enough!!
