Now that my dog is pretty much finished growing, and his hips/elbows have passed, I could use some advise on what you supplement a normal, healthy young adult dog when feeding a  RAW diet.  I know I should continue  the Vit E and Salmon Oil, but should I also continue supplementing his diet with Esther C, Bertes Naturals Daily Blend (multiple vit blend) and Green Blend (dried sea vegetation)?  Are there any additional supplements you would add?

I use Olewo carrots but the Green Blend should take care of the veggie part for your dog. I'll have to look up that Bertes NDB but sounds like you have it covered nicely.

I use the Solid Gold Sea Meal, I don't know how that compares to the Green Blend.  Glucosomine (sp?), vitamin C with rose hips, vitamin E oil, and fish oil.  I've also starting adding a splash of Odwelo carrot juice and super fuel.  They get a splash and I get a splash.    I'm starting to do a bit more raw though I'm about as picky over their food as mine.

Oh yeah, I've been meaning to start the Olewo carrots too.  Tell me, have you guys noticed a difference in the coat condition or color?  If so, what's different?

I realized later, Olewo carrots....   I spelled the juice wrong, it's Odwalla....    Just started with the carrot juice this week.  good stuff, very sweet.

Sue -

I have been feeding Olewo carrots for a year now.  Here is a photo of my male in March of 2007:

This is him in March of 2008:

While the lighting might be a little different, I did not saturate the second photo or color manipulate it.  I can say that his coat color has deepened and is more vibrant and shiny.  In the effort of full disclosure I have to admit, I switched him from Canidae to The Honest Kitchen with Olewo and K9 Super Fuel at the same time so some of the change might be due to that but I tend to attribute the deepness of the coat color to the carotene in Olewo.  Hope this helps.

whoaaaaaa that's stunning.  What about the texture of his coat, any change?

ACDs are supposed to have a harsh outer coat and it is still harsh but is has that "glossy" feel to it.  It is not a soft, fluffy feeling that would be incorrect but it definately is smoother feeling if that makes sense.

Yes, that makes perfect sense.  My current dogs coat feels a little softer than what I'm used to, but I think that could also be attributed to him being on a RAW diet.  I've seen litter mates of his and their coats aren't as soft and they are fed kibble.  I have got to get some of those Olewo carrots!
