Instead of walking him have you tried exercising him inside of a swimming pool?

Have checked his tiroide hormon level.

i havent but here in the uk we havent got many swimmingpools the weather is crap, and hydrotherapy is sooo expensive plus he would sink..lol

i have tried to get him to swim in the river in summer but he just acts like a mule and wont budge!!! if i can save up some spare cash i will take him but at £30 for a half hour sesh tiz expensive.

what and how much is he eating? everyone has a different definition of "doesn't eat that much"

Might cut his food down by half....or third for two months and measure him at one month. How many kg does he weigh?

Put him on raw meats and veggies.only   with cottage cheese and yogurt .look at the content of his food..if it has corn or wheat   change foods.its hard to find a food with low fat below 9 %

Senior diets have corn for the first ingredient

he has 150 gms of high quality compleat dry food. specialy designed for overweight dogs for a normal gsd the ration is 250 gms. we dont give treats only the occasional dental chew.

by gsdlvr2 on 17 March 2008 - 23:03

maybe cut him back to 100 gms for two months and see how it goes. IMO. I too am interested in the content of the food. Fat,protein, etc

If corn is the first ingredient in your particular dog food, that may be the problem.

oats are the first ingredient. i dont know how to post a link but the company is

Burns pet nutrition...uk and he is on high oats.

100grms sounds like so little but its worth a shot thankyou.
