A friend living in New England had some very special pieces of jewelry stolen from her a few days ago when her house was broken into. Most pieces are gold, a few silver and are sled dogs, paw prints, Malamutes, Siberians, wolves, etc. The most special piece is a hand painted ivory pendant picturing her most beloved Malamute.
Should anyone see or hear of such jewelry being offered for sale, maybe on ebay, etc, I'd appreciate it if you would contact me through this board with the information. Thanks so much.........

Often, it is people that know the household that do the stealing. If she has teenaged children, or even twenty something children who sometimes have questionable friends, she should look in that direction. Do burglers tend to take such distinctive jewelry that is difficult to move?

Yes, I'm sure she's thinking along those lines, Veronica. Sadly none of it was insured either. A lesson to be learned for all of us..... Keep you friends close, you enemies closer?
Thanks Two Moons.

It may be different where she lives but her household insurance should cover them if she has the receipts....even if the pieces are not insured.
STORY:
I had my truck stolen..didn't have full coverage so the car insurance didn't cover anything, but my household insurance covered the items in the car....well I am a coach and had taken my wedding ring off the night before and stuck it in there-well it was insured-but for the price hubby bought it at.......so thats what we got for it...it had gone up $3000 but we got the original price BECAUSE we had it insured and didn't pay to get it re appraised every year. So I asked her if I'd have gotten the "now" price if it wasn't insured and she said yes!! What a crock huh? So in some cases you are better off NOT insuring jewelery if you have the receipts or to pay to get it appraised once a year.
Have her check on that...she may be ok-but laws are different everywhere.

Also, maybe keep an eye out on e bay, in case people want to try to unload some of the stuff there or craigslist kind of thing.
