Hi all, I have a situation here. Female only 14 month old locked up with my stud. Male broke out of his kennel. I use the same kennels the police use in my county. Is there a morning after pill for dogs. What can I do ? what should I do?

yes there is an abortion pill, I would speak to a vet who is experienced in repro to help you make the decision whether to give it to her, wait and see (and maybe have a litter) or - are you planning on breeding her in the future? If not, 14 months is a good time to spay, which would be the best "cure" for your problem. Good luck -

Thank you molly, I have to wait till monday damn. Yes I want to breed her in the future, I wonder if the pill would hurt her chances of having a litter. This sucks. I hate the wait.

from what I know about "the abortion pill" - it may mess up her cycles for a while, but not forever - so since she is young it may be a very good option for you. Surely there are vets open on Saturday morning? May be worth calling around a bit. Good luck.

What I know about this treatment it has to be done right away, and its does mess them up a bit. consult a vet.
Your dog would survive a litter but its not the best situation for many reasons.

It has to be done within 72 hours, and may prolong the heat, but i havent heard of it messing up cycles etc.

molly, I had a friend years ago, give his bitch a c section. I guess that is what you call it. had golden/GSD pups removed. His bitch neve had another heat. Is that normal? sorry but my wife thinks I might have a heart attack, This is worrying me.

no, not normal. I would suspect that the vet spayed the female during the c-section. If he wasn't supposed to do that and it was an "oops", he may have not admitted to doing it. But, I'll betcha that's what happened. Spayed females won't come into heat, intact ones will, c-section shouldn't affect that at all. -
