Does anyone know whether the white colour in the rear paws of a show GSD is a standard defect and at what degree?
If, for example almost half of the upper paw colour (fur) is white, how much of a defect is this considered, if at all?
Thanks in advance for any comments....

I don't think there's a definitive answer to this question.
At any one show the judge compares the dogs to the standard but also to each other, loking at all the dogs presented that day in that group. If every one of the dogs in that show has some white on a foot, the defect might be considered less important. OTOH, if all other dogs are deeply pigmented with no white and just one dog has a white paw, he'd probably be put far down the line.
Just an opinion, who knows what a judge would do.

I have seen white on tips of show line dogs in show for years and on top winners.....just a Judge can answer it...now if the white is high on whole paw i would venture to say,,,,that dog ,will like Aqua said.....far down the line.....and would probly never get past a SG rating....which is fine with me .....but four paws with lots of white is not ok with me....and i dont think that dog ought to be shown either.....find a littermate of your breed that has only tips or none....not full white paws
