I don't know anything about Malis, but the breeder of "von der boesen Nachbarschaft" (GSDs) was Roman Schuler.

Although I am not 100% sure, I think you are right, Nia. If I remember correctly, I saw that obituary in the SV magazine. There have been no more litters out of that kennel for a while now.

Great name, though. I can see why the Mali folks would want to use it: it appeals to the "wrong element" in a lot of ways.
