A great THANK YOU to Zamps' owners for allowing us to see such a brilliant German Shepherd Dog in this Country and how sad that the  Group Judge didn't appreciate what a great honor it was for her to judge this beautiful Male, as did the Breed Judge. Sadly I doubt the future of the GSD more so now, in this Country, as Crufts is the 'showcase' to dog showing here and never again will this opportunity to Judge such a correct specimen of the breed be presented.

Blondie21 , please dont be sad, rather rejoice at the fact that you were witness to such an Historic Event,

Believe me when I say Zamp was brough here by his owners to help revitalise the breed enthusiasm here in the UK and I would say he certainly did that and more, Not only did he bring a packed ringside but coupled with the superb BBC TV and Radio coverage he attracted, he did more than just re-enthuse the GSD Fraternity, he impressed the UK general public at large, something only Zamp and his superb Character & Construction could have achieved.

If you must be sad, then be sad for the comments made by the contemptible Morons lurking here on this site, for it is their continuous vitriolic diartrarb that threatens to destroy the re-emergence of enthusiasm and in turn the future survival of our wonderful breed here in the UK.

Cheer up, after being priviledge to witness such a unique experience things should surely only get better.... cos if seeing Zamp dont bring that goose pimple longing back and seeing the bond between him and his wonderful loving family dont make you think about staying with or becoming part of the GSD scene, then nothing else ever stands an earthly.

Regards

Sue B

I for one am happy to see that FINALLY a decent specimen of the breed was shown in one the old prestigous worldwide events.... WHAT an honor for our breed to not have a GSD cowaring with ears back and hocuspocus to make the dog look good... just a GOOD dog representing what we love in the breed... as it should be!

Sue, please don't get me wrong I was absolutely over the moon to see the wonderful Zamp in the flesh (especially as we nearly didn't go this year.) I haven't seen him in Germany so I have to thank you for persuading Herr, Dieterich and Family for bringing him over.

My argument was with the Group Judge (who, I don't know wether anyone else noticed, sat and watched him win in the breed ring) didn't feel that he was good enough to win the Group or at least be pulled out in the final 4. If she didn't think Zamp was good enough I doubt she will ever have the opportunity to judge a German Shepherd again of that QUALITY., and more to the point will we ever see such a PERFECT dog again at Crufts.

Regards,

We will never know the judge's reason for the decision she made, unless she decides to make it public - which is highly unlikely. Judges are supposed to be impartial, and not have personal preferences. They are however human beings, so that means  some at least are going to be swayed by either politics or their own emotions. I am particularly suspicious of the Group, because I find it hard to believe that one person can be equally knowledgeable and fair when  faced with multiple breeds. But that's the way the system is set up. And let's be honest - Zamp didn't need to win. It would have been great if he had advanced beyond Breed, but look at the impression he made OUTSIDE the ring, a wonderful ambassador who was able to show MANY people what an excellent dog with impeccable temperament is all about. To my way of thinking this has importance far beyond taking home a trophy........ The UK is so lucky to have had the experience - no dog of his caliber will come to the US for the Westminster show because there is such huge bias here against the German GSD.  We are the poorer for that.....

Hi, thought I would try this thread as no one knows it seems on the other Zamp thread.

Could anyone tell me, is it possible that he might be for sale ?

You could ask the owner - Reinhard Dieterich, Zwinger vom Grabfeldgau - www.grabfeldgau.com

I would be very surprised if he is - his family obviously adores him, and he is a very good producer, much in demand as a stud.
