I was talking to someone recently that had some rather strong opinions about Forma v. Kathago in a pedigree. Interested in hearing from others!

She is the second dam in my dog's pedigree on the sire's side.
I have been very pleased with my boy though he is not a precocious dog by any means. He has always been more civil than prey so we've had to wait for him to develop to really bring the pressure of bitework to him but as soon as he caught up what he's brought to the field has been amazing. Calm, full, hard grips even under stick hits and a very serious aggression towards the helper.
He's also a very stable dog around children, other dogs and any environmental situation I take him into. He particularly loves kids, thinks they're the neatest things in the world.

RLHAR and what did the other 75 % of your dogs pedigree contribute ?
by Betty on 16 March 2012 - 17:03
I didn't read it as he was saying that came from Forma, just where Forma is in the pedigree and his description o what he sees in his dog.
Is your boy extremely hard to a correction RLHAR?

Duke.
The other 75% contributed 75% of the dog but the question was about Forma, not the other dogs in my dog's pedigree.
Betty I'll PM you.

I have a bitch Cjet vom Stephanitz whos sire is Eich von der Berger Hochburg. Eichs' dam is Forma. My bitch is very compliant but pushy...very good aggression...people friendly...dog tolerable...very good prey...will work all day...no ball necessary for obedience...my bitches dam is Yedda vom Kathargo...I heard Forma was average at best in the work....but produced well:-)

I think I know exactly what you mean by pushy.....LOL
I brouht this up because someone that I consider pretty good at pedigrees told me that she would not have Forma in a pedigree and it surprised me.

Did she say why, Betty?

I have had that mentioned to me by one individual....I take it with a grain of salt while considering that there are so many other dogs in the pedigree. Having her there once in a pedigree makes no difference whatsoever....unless she is the dam...or you're line breeding on her....I don't think she contributed anything to Eich that was too disturbing. Forma is also the dam of Dasty von der Berger Hochburg...
I find 23 progeny of Forma with 10 titled in Sch. Forma competed in the BSP. She had a normal hips.....

Wonder if it''s the same person?
Absolutely you have to take info like this with a grain of salt. There are so many things that can influence a person's opionion such objective but for the most part I think it's subjective.
I try and file it and maybe it will mesh with something else down the road.
