For those of you that feed raw diets and add raw eggs. Are duck eggs good? And how do you feed them, egg only over the food or the shell and all? My ducks are laying like crazy right now.

I feed raw chicken eggs - I have one duck who hasn't laid yet - but when she does, I'll be feeding duck eggs in the same way. They are supposed to be higher in fat than chicken eggs, and of course they are larger - just feed them raw, break them on top of the dogs' meal and throw the shell in too if the dog will eat it. Eggs from duck or chicken are "the perfect food". Great for health, skin/coat too.

I wanted to know, is there a limit to the amount of eggs (chicken) a dog can have?

I use eggs but i use farm eggs. I dont trust store bought, you wouldnt either if you'd ever seen production house's.
The shells are natures way of protecting whats inside. a shield that can be contaminated. I would not feed the shells.
If you must feed shells at least wash them first. If your raising your own thats great, you know what you have and what its been fed, and how clean they are or arent. Eggs are great for the coat, but I dont feed them everyday.
Eggs are best when fertilized, eichenluft get that girl a mate..lol

yes the eggs I feed my dogs (and myself, and any friends who want them) are my own free-range chicken (and one duck). My dogs get between 4-7 eggs per week (each) depending on the number of eggs collected per day. Plus any they happen to find on their own (free range chickens will find new and interesting spots to lay their eggs). Very good for them, raw-diet or not.

be careful with the eggs. yes, they are very nutritious, but can also bring on diarrhea. duck eggs are much richer than chicken eggs........just take care with them and don't start out feeding too many,. doggie egg-farts can be pretty bad, too.

Two Moons---Molly mentioned that the "egg" is the "perfect food". It rates that description because of the perfect balance of calcium/shell to phosphorous/egg white, yolk. You might want to start adding those shells....washed or not. I've been feeding raw eggs for 3 yrs now. My young male was getting 1 a day, but recently have switched to every other day I put the whole raw egg in the blender every morning and make a shake. Take it from fridge later on in the afternoon and feed after exercise run........the 'shake' foamy bubbles have subsided by then. I make the 'shake' because 'monster man' would always pick out the shells. (LOL)

When I was a kid we had 2 domesticated white ducks...and they would lay eggs everywhere...in their house...and even on the carport...We collected them and my mom would use them for baking because they have a much bigger yolk in them...it makes cakes and anything else much richer...So duck eggs are great for anything....I wish I had a few ducks now....but I'm afraid they'd be "duck dinner"...
