This is the second picture and this is the male ....the first picture was the female......Critique and opinions please.....do these look like they could be related...?????
Which one looks more masculine?

by Sunsilver on 25 February 2008 - 05:02
The bitch looks more masculine to me. She has a larger, heavier head and muzzle. Yes, they could be related, but I've seen a lot of sables that look similar to that.

I agree with Sunsilver, a lot of sables have that similar look.
And funny, before I read your last line regarding masculinity, I was thinking the female looked more masculine.

The Female is very strong and a good sort to breed on with. The Male could be more masculine but overall a very nice dog whose constuction on the photo is very well balanced.
Both the Male and the Female would make a good breeding pair ( if bloodlines were compatable of course ! ).

Female: Very nice, strong female. Excellent pigmentation, high whither, very well proportioned, croup is of good length but slightly steep, well angulated in the front and rear. Overall a correct bitch.
Male: Medium-strong male, high whither, good overall proportions but more stretched than the female, croup is of good length and position, good angulation in the front, female has better angulation in the rear.
They are similar, although I would not assume they are closely related, possibly in the 2nd or 3rd generation. Both are veyr nice. They actually compliment eachother structually.

That girly will probably produce some nice heads.I also agree with everyone that they actually compliment each other(of course lines being compatible).

I do know that the male is a very nice producer first hand. I liked his breeding a lot and his looks. But I like his work ethic by what I have been told and his overall looks. To me he is extremely balanced. I can understand that one could think the female looks more masculine but the angle on the shots is different too and that can be deceiving. I do agree that the male could have a tiny bit more masculine head but then again, I love the overall balance for a working dog.

At first glance I thought the female looked a little more masculine than the male BUT I liked the male's look actually better than the females.
If I could but her head on his then I'd like the male even better. I'm a sucker for a nice big head. I agree though he does look nicely balanced.
