Sorry for the repetitions. Just trying to make photos viewable...
These are the elbow x-rays of a 3,5 years old male and hip x-rays of a 1 year old female. The x-rays are alreay characterised and given a grading by SV. Any quesses regarding the results?

I'd think the hips would be rated good to excellent by the SV. Would that be an A1? No clue about the elbows. I don't know how to read elbow films.

It's really hard to have an accurate reading since the picture is so fuzzy. I'm not experienced in reading elbow x-rays but they look ok to me - hips look good enough to pass OFA, guessing "Good" but as I said - hard to say for certain since the quality of the picture is so poor.

I agree with Molly on the fuzzy picture
I would say fair being the right hip has a flatness to it on the left hand side of the ball. Shallow sockets on both
As for the elbows very hard to see thought the blur but if I had to guess normal

The flat spot on the ball is a normal finding, it is where the ligament attaches. Not sure what the SV looks for, OFA wants to see at least 1/2 of each ball seated in the socket and this xray looks like OK to me in that respect.

The right (R) elbow has an ununited anconeal process (UAP)--by OFA standards. However, I have a real problem with the SV's scheme for rating elbows. For the life of me, I would not want to breed dogs with "fast normal" or "NZ" elbows.
In both elbow radiographs, I would prefer to see the elbows in a more "flexed" position to to faciltate visualizing the anconeal and coronoid processes.
The hips are fine--should OFA at least "good". SV's HD probably "normal".

Elbows are too fuzzy but I would agree with Louise that the right elbow shows an Ununited Anconeal Process (UAP). Hips appear they should pass OFA.

Can you tell us what you see to say the dog has UAP? I honestly am looking at both elbows and cannot see a difference. Can you possibly explain what you are seeing on the R elbow?
Thanks!!!
I would be curious to hear what the SV rated them.

I have cropped the photo so that you can see the anconeal process (the little beak-shaped thing underneath UAP) that is ununited (you can see a split in the bone) at the growth plate:

Hips look to be OFA fair or better. But the positioning of the hip xray is not optimal. I can't read elbows. The OFA uses special filters than most vets don't have which help identify any patchiness. In some GSDs the anconeal process doesn't unite until 9 months old or older (rare but it can happen). I wouldn't breed these dogs, however.
