Do you think someone could steal your dog out of your yard? Or could someone get in your yard without you being there ( while the dogs are out)?
by Sparrow on 19 February 2008 - 12:02
No. Unless the puppy were out alone, which never happens.

i have no idea...boss is still young but i doubt anyone would try...most people, even those who know him well, respect him just because of the way he looks....and maybe the fact that when they first come to the front door, before i get there to 'settle' him, he does'nt sound very inviting...i have noticed that if i am not in the living room, if i am doing laundry or taking a bath, and someone comes to the front door, they can't get in....the top half of the door is glass and he stands with his front feet on the door and is much more serious with his barking...when he does that most people won't even stand next to the door much less try to open it....i really got to do something with that door, he will get so serious that i worry he is gonna bust through it,- thats the first thing everyone says.."i thought he was gonna bust through the glass!"..

Someone could get out of a car and even make it to the door. And yes they might be able t get a pup, but my adult dogs are stranger proofed after much socializing. And if that pup should let out a cry I think my females would come to its aid.
Its real easy to stranger proof your dogs on your own property.

The only way to really know is to have the situation tested. I had a teenager scale my privacy fence one summer day so he could see our dog in the backyard; I happen to be sitting on the back deck when I caught him before the dog did. As he's pulling himself up to look over the fence my dog is coming full speed across the yard ready to take his arm off. I tore that kid a new one and I think after he went home to change his drawers he realized how stupid he was.LOL That's about the only situation that would make me think they would not be easily coaxed out of their "space". My bitch especially is very kennel and yard protective. The pup is still young so someone may be able to negotiate with him a little easier if he were the only one in the yard but again who in their right mind is gonna try to approach 3 gsd's at the same time while they are going ape shit???? Only someone familiar with the dogs would consider attempting it IMO.
