I am looking for a GSD puppy.  I have a couple of ideas about breeders but want to become more informed before making our choice.  Our purpose for this dog is to compete in the sport of Schutzhund but he (we want a male) will live with my husband and I in our home--he will not be kenneled outside.  This dog will stay with us forever.  I have titled an alternative breed from puppy to SchH II and have spent the last 6 years learning about SchH.  I know how to handle dominant dogs and actually prefer them--I find that they are the easiest to train and bond with.  My husband and I have one goal in mind--to take this puppy to his full potential.  We do not want a show dog and do not care about conformation or even what the dog looks like--beauty in my mind is a healthy, fit, intelligent working dog.  We are ready for the puppy when we make our choice but we will wait any length of time for the right breeding.  This dog will be cared for and trained for the rest of his life and will never be left behind and forgotten.  This dog will be socialized with other dogs and people everyday, but will have one main relationship and that will be with me--no one else will ever tell him what to do.  He will have at least 2 or 3 hours every day of individual one-on-one training, play and relaxation time with me.

Do your homework.   Sounds like you already know what your doing.

Where are you located? I could recommend some breeders in your area. You can always ship a puppy from longer distances, but if the breeder is within reasonable driving distance, you can meet the parents, possibly older siblings, the rest of the litter, and maybe even choose your puppy from the litter, depending on the breeder's policies.
