of late i am using REX, a food supplement for dogs for the last one month  on three of my dogs @ approx. 5 ml. everyday.  the result i find is extraordinarily shining  black on all dogs with a very good dark tan also.  has anyone ever tried / are there some vitamins containing special ingredients for making the pigmentation rich ? because rex is not always available with the local pet store.

regards

Rex is basically Omega Oil  which  primarily works on the coat lustre / shine /color etc and also the fertility part fro the studs. Its also given to Horses in stud farms.

You can give your dog any oil with Omega oil contents which will give the same results

cheers

Just one more point, if you give omega oil don't give in excess it can have some weird results :)

cheers

an egg a week will give a dog a shinny coat,  You cant change the color of the coat by feeding some kind of magic crap.

think about it.

One more thought,  sun light will effect an animals coat.

Aye! What be up Doc? aye fanciers from many different breeds be feeding carrots for this very purpose aye. They believe t' beta carotene enriches t' pigment aye. Thar be many posts about it on t' DB aye

http://www.naturalcanine.com/html/carrot_powder.html

me knows doggers who sup t' product, colloidal silver  t' their canine athletes  aye...me can get it from alocal sled dog combine here. aye They swear by it.  Me have used it meself and it does work aye. There also be a local native shaman thats into all t' plant remedies and natural meds. He swears that glacier water and its collodial minerals that be easy for t' body t' absorb without causein' arthritis have healin' properties t' them from millions o' years ago aye too much of t' colloidal silver turn t' dog's blood blue, and some dogs a tint o' blue in t' coat. Aye! Haven't ye all heard of t' blue bloods from t' land of me Beauty Zacsmum? aye If ye give t' silver t' ye doggie ye need t' feed probiotics or some yogurt an hour after t' Colloidal Silver, as t' silver kills all bacteria, good and bad aye some give 5cc per day orally t' thar doggies aye

People who give silver compounds and some of the other stuff out in the market are foolish. One is playing with fire to do this. A dogs coat is what it is, given APPROPRIATE BASIC NUTRITION. There is no need for overdosing animals on supplements, all of which are unproven and untested by any real science. In some instances, one may actually be making the dog ill. Too much of almost anything is not a good thing....

Sunsilver

The blue colour is due to silver being deposited in the skin and tissues, which is NOT a good thing:

http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/PhonyAds/silverad.html

One of the questions I have to answer when assessing a human patient I'm doing wound care on is "what factors present may inhibit the healing of the wound?"  One of the choices is silver and gold injections, which in the past were used to help arthritis.

We DO use colloidal silver topically to help kill bacterial in infected wounds. Thin sheets are placed directly in the wound.

Collodial silver should NEVER be taken internally though. Period. End of discussion.

Sunlight will fade colour. NOTHING given internally will change the colour of hair, either on a human or a dog. Anything given for this purpose is sheer quackery!

Oh wait, if you've got terminal liver failure, EVERYTHING turns orange/yellow....

Olewo is one of the best products we have found for pigmentation and it also helps to prevent parasites. It is from Germany and easy to obtain over here. Not to mention it is very cost efficient. We have used it for 11 years, it is a product you find used a lot over in Germany.
