Shelly,
I would rethink the panic alarm - these little things are so frigging loud and annoying, that you will definetly get the attention of everybody and for sure of every dog at the show !! Some of them might even want to kick your bud ...... I bet not something you wish for !!

Shelley, save your self some problems - think again abou that nosy thing. One thing is to try to attract the attention of your dog but not many people will take kindly interference with their dogs. You could even draw the attention of the judge, negative attention.

That's what I am looking for. No, I don't want to annoy everyone, certainly not the judge! The people who brought Ilay to the NASS had one that wasn't so annoying, just a sharp chirp. My voice has always been so weak my dog can't hear me over the rest of the noise, and after one class its often gone altogether. I know people use air-canister boat horns, and such, but I am trying to come up with something unique. Can't have Jed looking behind him at the "other" cues!

Have you tried with specific color of clothes

by Shelley Strohl on 21 February 2008 - 13:02
I do try to wear clothes that stand out, and my "signature" hat. I wonder if anyone remembers the chic little flourescent orange shorts ensemble my handler came up with for me in the 96 USA Sieger Show in Dallas? LOL There are a LOT of people running around the double-handling ring at a major show trying to attract their dogs' attention. Short, light-stature, weak-voice little me gets lost in the crowd easily. I'm lucky if I don't get knocked down and run over!

A dogs hearing is extreme compaired to ours, I would suggest training your dog to a softer sound unique to yourself.

Shelley---I'm not absolutely positive about this......but remember viewing a special on TV quite awhile ago. I believe it more than intimated that dogs have a smaller range of distinguishable colors than ours. Yellow and blue topping that list.
