Good day to everyone,
I am wanting to add raw food to my girls diet. I was told that raw beef is okay but with chicken it has to be boiled down first. I am thinking of buying the leg quarters and I was wondering how long am i supposed to boil the quarters before I give them to Savvi? Also I thought the purpose of feeding raw is so that the dog can consume both the meat and bone because cooked food the bones are not soft and the dog can't digest it. Will my girl be able to digest the chicken bones if they are boiled? Thanks so much

Do not boil. I fed strait raw chicken 1/4 to my dogs for months with not a single problem. If you boil the chicken you must remove the bones.

Pfui ! Don't boil that chicken, rinse with water and give. Samanilla is not much of an issue as long as it is human grade and kept refigerated. I give pups chicken wing sections and adults leg quarters. Some dogs gulp it down others seem to eat it slower. They all love it, none the less.

Raw 1/4 for 3 years now. Watch your dog from a distance to make sure they don't inhale it. If your dog is a fast eater you can either buy chicken and feed half to slow them down or buy a good meat grinder and grind the 1/4s. Never feed them together. It almost guarantees a fight and fast eating.

Thanks everyone. Also I remember I tried to feed raw chicken once before and it made the poop watery and runny. How do you explain that?

Have you ever just eaten meat alone? Anything new to the digestive system may do that. I feed it with kibble.

If you feed raw chicken or hamburger w/o the appropriate amount of raw bone you can get loose stool as well. If using hamburger you should get some bonemeal to ad from your local health food store, not the kind at Wally World or similar place for gardens! Some dogs do take a bit to adjust to eating meat if they have been on commercial dog food for a long time. I haven't had the problem so far, knock on wood!

Raw chicken is great if fresh. If it is the first time fed, it will take a couple of days for the digestive system to adjust. Ad digestive enzymes to the food. I feed high quality kibble and raw with digestive enzymes added.
