Has anyone else read this article in Forbes Magazine Dec. 07 entitled "Niiiiice Doggie"? Wouldn't it be nice to make $22,-60,000.00 per dog, and then to be selling an average of 12 dogs per month for the last 24 years?
You can either find the article in the magazine or go to the website, I think it's on the site too. www.harrisonk9.com
They sure found a "niche"

Wow, I didn't think there were that many suckers out there. LOL This was a site I haven't come across but it was rather amussing to say the least. Talk about a VERY VERY select clientle to service.....

I am going to take a shot in the dark......
You can pay $30,000.00 for a car then dump 10s of thousands of dollars into it to make just as fast as a $80,000-$100,000 sports car. OR you can save your self all that work and just buy the high end sports car.... Money and time are a big factor in my example. Some people don't like to do the dirt work so they are willing to pay. Some people like to get into there cars and really research before they purchase. Do you see where I am going with this. This guy must be doing something right to have been in business this long. I don't think is fair to call their clients suckers. JMO

Its all about great marketing and spending alot on image.
Theres a sucker born every minute, maybe two.
I loved the picture of hubby and the wife saying good bye at the jet.
I guess if you can afford the jet, the rest is window dressing.
Didnt the add say the dog weighed 110 pounds ???

Is it just me most of the dogs advertised look like showline dogs. Now im not trying to offend showline owners, I have one. I just think if I was going to spend that kind of cake on " estate protection" I would probably buy a hard ass looking working line over RIn Tin Tin.

Okay, if your budget allows 40 to 60K for security you could do a helluva lot better than one german shepherd. For that price I expect a dire wolf (now extinct). Approixmate size was five feet in length and 250 pounds. Bonding with humans was unheard of so obedience, shutzhund, agility, utility, tracking, and all that other pedestrian stuff was out of the question.
But seriously, think of the weapons you could amass with the same amount of funds. You could even afford to pay some of these blackwater rah rah cowboys to patrol your perimeter 24/7. Hell, for a hundred bucks apiece and a bag of schwag I know a gang that could get the job done. But to each his/her own. And if you're a do-it-yourself type you could just put in an elaborate security system with a panic room and lay low until the dust settled. Look, I love dogs more than life itself, but no one dog is worth 40 to 60 thousand dollars. It's a question of value.
As an aside, in Japan the heads of the mafia families buy and raise Inu Tosas, japanese fighting dogs that go about 200 pounds and up. They actually wag their tails as they fight. And unlike American dog fights the Japanese participants only allow their dogs to fight until one submits. These dogs are sold for as much as a million dollars as they are in great demand among the Yakuza. And I think they would protect a yard at least as well as a GSD or any other breed.

I must admit I watched the video and I thought one of the dogs looked gigantic and not nearly as sharp as I would expect. I am not an expert but i have seen video's of dogs on this website that are far better trained and I would guess are not as pricey.

you also have to look at the clientel! do you think that person that owns a jet want's some high drive super freak dog eating the interior of said jet? or a 300k$ car? i'd venture to say no.
we own a showline, i'm in the army, and when i take her to work the 1st question i'm asked is ?? does she bite? she's 70lbs red and black, beautiful pussy cat dog! appearance is 90% of the battle. as tough as everyone thinks they are, not many are going to challenge a working breed dog, be it gsd, dobie, rottie, etc.etc.... my wife feels safe just walking her ''showline'' gsd,
so yes it's good marketing, and if all of us could sell dog's for that we'd all be much happier and the world full of peace! it is what it is, a free man taking advantage of free enterprise. everyone would love to make that kind of cash , but how many of our friends own a jet? none of mine that's for sure.
sincerely kenny
