What vaccines do your puppies have before going to their new homes at 8 weeks?
Do you do something different if they're being shipped?

First off, be informed that any & all vaccinations given by a licensed veterinarian comes with some degree of protection for yourself if for some reason the vaccination fails. You do NOT get this type of legal protection if you self-vaccinate.
At 8-9 wks puppies are typically ready for a combo vaccination like Canine Spectra-8.
http://www.durvet.com/DS/515_DS.pdf. This link provides info on what's specifically contained in the Spectra-8 vaccination.
If you are shipping puppies, doing a Bordatella vaccination is also ideal since it helps protect your puppy against kennel cough.
And, 3-4 days prior to shipping, giving a daily preventative dose of Albon against Coccidia break-out is also wise and may keep down a ton of preventable headache of runny bowels due to stress of shipping and relocating.

Also for shipping you have to get a Health Certificate from a licensed Veterinary it is the law, the Airlines will not ship your dogs without it.

I give my own puppy vaccines.  I get them from the same supplier that the vets get them and giving puppy shots is easy and safe.  I do not like to overvaccinate so give the "minimum required" - my puppies get Parvo, Distemper, Adinovirus and INfluenza, all in one shot, and I recommend another 2 boosters every 3-4 weeks after that plus rabies when they are 4 months old.   I do not give my puppies or any of my dogs vaccines for Lepto, Coronavirus, Lymes or Bordatella.  For shipping there is no vaccine requirement for puppies under 4 months old (over 4 months they must have rabies vaccine), they only need a health certificate done within 10 days of shipping.

The first vaccine and health check is done by my veterinarien. I feel when someone buys a pup it should come with a health and vacc's certification  by a licenced verterinarien ! The vet vaccinates them with  distemper/ distember/measels/Parainfluenza/parvo  shot .

If I keep a pup or any remaining pups I give the 2nd and 3rd vaccine myself  and rabies is given at around 6 months by the vet .

Pia,

That's what I give my pups for the first shot, and the vet. checks them out & gives everyone a health cert.

I used to get everyone a Lepto, a Corona, I read somewhere that their is about 152 strains of Lepto,
and the shot only covers about 3 of them, is this true, would you know......
