Does certain kibble give dogs gas?  I feed Solid Gold Millenium to all my dogs, very happy with the way their coat looks and never had any reason to switch food BUT my male has terrible gas that he feels the need to pass every night around 11pm while he's laying right next to my bed.  It smells god awful that I've blamed my husband many nights as he swore up and down it was the dog. LOL  It really has been the dog because on a couple times my husband wasn't even in bed when Agar cut loose.  I haven't notcied it during the day which I thought is odd that it happens so late at night when I feed them way early in the morning.  I don't know if the other dogs are having this issue because they don't sleep in my room. I'm wondering if I should change his dog food or if this is normal when you feed kibble with more natural ingredients??

Have you changed to a different kind of kibble?  If the problems started when you switched, then there could be a correlation with the diet.  "Toxic toots" could be a sign of digestion woes.  Nothing fatal, but sure the heck annoying when you're inhaling a nose full.

You might consider switching him to a different food... different brand... different ingredients... to see if you get improvements.

Good luck!

Personally, I get gas when I don't eat, so maybe a snack before bed of two meals a day will stop the late night gas.

For what it is worth, I have 8 dogs who sleep in my bedroom and NONE have gas unless they have eaten something they should not have. Neither do the kennel dogs, unless one of them is having some sort of gut issue. One possibility is that he needs to be let out later at night or fed at a different time as he really needs to go out at 11.

I might try adding some yogurt to his food, but if that does not work, my suggestion would be to change food as he is not digesting it very well if having lots of gas.

I have had him on this same food for the longest time and never noticed him to have gas.  If he did it must have been "silent and non deadly" lol  But this stinks so bad it could make your eyebrows curl. lol

I'm gonna try what you guys suggested, letting him out right before bed, or feed him a little later in the day and see if that works.  I seriously doubt he's eating anyting he shouldn't be because he gets no table food and is fed in the same spot every day.  If that doesn't help what food do you suggest I try to switch him off on?

I fed Blitz 2 bags of EVO and he almost drove us out of the house. Switched him back to RC and nary a poof after his first meal. Now he's eating Timberwolf Organics  Ocean Blue mixed with the Honest Kitchen Embark (I wanted to get him off grains). No gas.

I feed all the dogs Royal Canin, either the GSD 24 variety or the Maxi Light for the older dogs who do not tolerate higher fat content.

Again, try giving him some yogurt for a week or so and see too if that does not help. If he has such bad gas, I suspect the bacteria are out of whack in his gut and the methanogens are proliferating over some of the other beneficial bacteria.....

Just don't light a match! LOL

Had I lit a match when Blitz was eating the EVO, the entire neighborhood would have gone up in flames

Hodie, it sounds like "Dog Heaven" at your place.
