The Humane Society of the United States and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wanted the dogs euthanized. But rescue operations won their fight to give these animals a second chance at life.

awesome job from the recues organizations! :)

Two Moons

Well breed real pit dogs could make good pets as long as they are kept away from other dogs.

I hope these dogs are taken care of and not put down, but I wouldnt want one.

I couldn't ever fully trust a dog who's been in the pit especially around children.

I'm not one who thinks we need to save them all..  sorry.

They won't all be placed in homes, Two Moons. Vick's "private dog" will live out his life in rescue, deemed not placeable, and some others will probably end up with the same evaluation. Vick has "donated" almost 1 million to rehab these dogs and to provide forever homes for the ones that can't be placed. Some have been so severely abused that they may never come around, but they won't be killed. So far only one has been put down due to people aggression. Ordinarily I'd agree with your statement about not saving them all, but in this case I believe it's the right thing to do since they have never known any sort of human kindness. There is no burden placed on the general public and there are qualified rescuers who will provide them with some love and human companionship. IMO they deserve that much.
