Kulla Dog Training and Oak Spring Kennels are proud to host a

Training Helper Seminar

March 1-2, 2008 | Poplar Grove, IL

This seminar will cover all aspects of protection work with a concentration on safe

and correct training techniques and theories. This seminar will not address trial

helper work, but instead will concentrate on the development and training of dogs in

the protection phase from puppy to adult, including problem-solving in all areas.

Topics covered will include:

• Drive-building and prey development

• Development of proper gripping and countering behavior

• Eliciting and shaping barking behavior

• Balancing drives (prey/defense/fight)

• Teaching the hold and bark

• Teaching/maintaining the out

• Promoting striking behavior

• Secondary work (blind searches, side transport, rear transport)

• Problem-solving: primary work (barking/biting)

• Problem-solving: secondary work (control)

Sound like a good seminar. I'm just getting starting learning to do helper work so i'd be interested in going as a spectator. But am I wrong in assuming that it's the same price for spectators as it is for those that actually get the  helper and handler instruction? I think there would be more insentive for people in the begining stages to attend if they weren't payin the same amount. JMHO.
