Well it is only two letters difference.

I'll say this though, if I ever have a need to create a commercial for a large market, I am going to hire their ad agency. They are absolutely brilliant.  The ability to make these insane people look like they have a point, true genius.

"Calling the show a "pageant," PETA considers the annual Westminster gathering "irresponsible" because it "promotes dog breeding and spurs interest in 'purebreds' while animal shelters overflow with unwanted mutts who are in desperate need of homes."

LOL. So because there are irresponsible owners out there that don't control their dogs and their procreation, that means i should no longer want working GSD and i should buy mutz??

I won't even go into the stupidity behind the "against spay/neuter law" comment.

Well, look on the bright side... the more outrageous and inflamatory statements they make, the more they show themselves to be the fanatics they really are.

The downside is that it takes a bit of wisdom and discernment to wade through the drivel, and I have my doubts sometimes about the mentality (or lack thereof) of John Q. Public.

I think PETA is promoting Genocide by asking for a 'no birth' policy with the dogs.  If we come to a point where no dogs are born at all then we will be eliminating the species.

I believe PETA has a secret.  It is actually run by persons that secretly hate dogs and are using the disquise of caring to secretly eliminate them altogether.  Wait a minute.................There could be a connection here..............between PETA and ...........can I say..........Hitler...........

Don't forget that PETA's goal is no use whatsoever of any animal for any purpose.  Food, companionship, work, entertainment - no anything.  They want all domestic animals be sterilized, and then when they die, the species would be extinct.  Their wish is "one generation and out".  And, of course, for us all to become vegans.

Love their commercials showing someone cuddling a rescue dog, when they don't even believe you should have a pet.

By gradually chipping away at our rights with anti-dog legislation, they are moving closer to their goal.

I remember when i was a kid seeing a commercial with one of the Phenix boys. It was about saving animals... So being a kid I thought that PETA was a good thing. Then when I was old I saw a video of PETA rescuing and then drowning cats from a local shelter. Someone had found the cats in a dumpster so this huge investigating took place ( they thought it was a cult) but low and behold it was PETA. I was a teen when it happened so I dont understand how they get so much support. Now that I am adult I research things before i jump on the bandwagon... I figure people with money would do so a little more. Guess I was wrong...

SchHBabe,
You hit it on the nose.  I don't care how radical, how deceptive, how much they lack in common sense, these organizations do a marvolous job of reaching John Q Public. As Zahnburg said, their marketing skills are brilliant.  Unfortunatly they are reaching the John Q's that represent the majority of people.  They are the same people that believe in Lassy.  They are the ones that truly believe their dog's reason as a person does.  They believe a chock coller or any correction device is cruel.  They still swat their dog with a news paper and rub their dog's nose in their mess 3 hrs. after it happened, and then say " see how he is acting, he knows he did something wrong".  They do not have the discipline nor the insight to read and study the issues. Too much work.  This I am afraid fits the masses.  All you have to do is walk your gsd through town and you will hear the moronic statements that people will make to you about gsd's or dog's in general.  They don't get it and most never will.

So when the Animal rights activists send a post card to hundreds of thousands of homes with this beautiful movie star holding the cute little puppy and say's " wont you be apart of saving these little puppies that are being killed and maimed every day by offering a pledge to SPCA "or who ever is the front for the Animal Rights organizations agenda, John Q and Sally Q can't get their check book out fast enough.

This issue will not go away and these folks are brilliant in their strategy, and they have the money, and names to do it.
Only buy beating them at their own game, getting out to John ignoramis and getting good laws on the books will this happen.  We, many of us in this Country have forgotten our rights and been backed back into a corner.  I see it on this board when someone wishes to bring up a delicate topic and get's hammered by the bleeding hearts that make all decisions based on emotion.  And that is what the animal rights folks are banking on.

I probably should not respond to these threads, I get too worked up and I know it accomplishes little in the long run.
