Having "trouble" finding a dog - Page 1

Hello dear GSD people.

I've posted here before with the same problem.

I'm looking for a dog in the coming years and for the last three - five years I've been searching the internet, reading about breeders and so forth.

I'm very picky when it comes to what I want and so far I've not met a breeder that has met my standards :(

Maybe you guys could help me, pointing out kennels/breeders you think might suit for me and what I look for in a companion.

Here is a "small" list (note this list does not take account for everything I want in a dog, just to give you guys the general idea)

This list also has no perticular order, some aspects are more important to me than others, but I just thought I'd put them all in there for your viewing pleasure.

# I want a purebred FCI dog
# I want a breeder that has experience ext, I don't want a dog from a breeder having it's first litter
# I don't want a breeder that has 5 litters or more per year
# I don't want a show dog
# Roach/Banana backs are a big NO NO.
# I don't like sable or black dogs, I prefer everything from the black/red to very very dark dogs (colour is of least importance but lot of kennels have only sables or blacks (or both) and I do not care for those colours )
# I do tracking and minor obidience, I hope to take part in IPO later on and I'm active in the temperment test  with my club(MH)
# Good health is number 1,2 and to 300 !! Good hips and healthy long lived dogs is what I want in my breeder.
# I want a working dog but also a family dog, I realise the upbringing will determine a lot about those quilites but I do not want a high strung out dog.
# I just want a happy, healthy beautiful GSD that I can hopefully grow with.

I hope you guys took the time to read this and hopefully you can advise on where I should step down next.

I'm ready to wait for the perfect dog, I've waited for a couple years (oh about 8-10 years) to get my first GSD and I strive to do my best and do the best research I can.

A little bit about me.

I ride and traine horses for a living. I'm an outdoors person and live in a small countrytown.
I like climbing mountains and taking long walks, but I also enjoy tracking with the dog and obidience.

I now own a rescue dog that is turning 6 years old .


I'd prefer a dog in Europe as I live there.

Hi,

What you want in a dog and its breeder is not that difficult, how come it took you all these years and could not find the dog you are looking for!!
I am sure that on this board alone there are breeders and dogs who far surpass your standards, should not be that difficult. Good luck.

He is not ugly just not my type :)

And I'm having a lot of difficulties finding a breeder with the factors that I want.

That's why I'm hoping for some help from you guys .

Just point out kennels or breeding lines.

Escobar, I would suggest you contact the schutzhund clubs in your area, the members should be able to point you in the direction of local or not too distant working line breeders  with dogs/pups  that will satisfy your wish list.

Who wouldn't like Quanto?!!!

Sorry SitasMom, I do not like either of those dogs.

Quanto however is beautiful but I'm not too keen on his offsprings.

And sueincc they don't have working gsd dogs in my area or anywhere near me :(

That's why I'm looking to you guys for help.

Trust me, I've done my homework but getting the right dog is harder than cock !!

where is Quanto now, does he still produce? I never seen a better head.
